Tulle-y Yours: Saying 'I Do' to the Perfect Tulle Dress

Anika - Danielle Frankel

We are diving into a world of whimsy, elegance, and a touch of fairytale magic – yes, you guessed it – we're talking all about tulle wedding dresses! To me, you can't get more bridal than a big, fluffy tulle ball gown but as society - are we over that? Whether you're a die-hard romantic or just love the idea of feeling like a princess on your big day, tulle has a way of weaving its charm into the heart of bridal fashion. So, grab your iced latte (or cheeky sav!), get comfy, and let's explore the enchanting world of tulle together!

When I think of a tulle wedding dress (and probably the same for everyone else) I think big, froo froo and itchyness. But do you know how often tulle is used and how many different types and effects can be done with it? With such a versatile aesthetic, tulle is definitely not something to scrunch your nose up at anymore - see below for some inspo that may just change your mind!

Malibu - KYHA Studios

By far one of the most popular tulle ball gowns I have seen around recently is the Malibu gown from KYHA Studios. This gown leans into some elements that are super trendy at the moment being a structured bodice and that iconic dipped waistline that KHYA are so well known for. The gathered tulle on the bodice creates an incredibly flattering and feminine look whilst the modified sweetheart neckline and optional cut-out bring a modern edge to an otherwise classic gown. And of course the show stopper - that beautiful, big soft tulle skirt! This gown is PERFECT for the traditional bride looking for a classic silhouette with a modern flair. Also a really great, secure option for my blessed bigger chested girlies!

RRP: $5,995.00 AUD

Style 7328 - Stella York

After something with a little bit more detail? A little more bling-bling? Fear not - here is Style 7328 by Stella York. A beautiful little gown that is all party up top and soft dreams on the bottom. The beading detail on the bodice of this dress is GORGG! Mixed with little pearls, sequins and beads, you will be sparkling as far as the eye can see. But sometimes the blingy look can be a little overpowering which is where the tulle skirt comes in handy! The floaty, dreamy A-Line skirt on this gown provides a soft and feminine juxtaposition (word proudly brought to you by 2CD English 2012) against the bodice. How perfect would this dress be for a beach wedding or perhaps even a cheeky Bali wedding??

RRP: Around the $3,000 AUD mark

Wren - Danielle Frankel

Now, obviously this is not everyone's cup of tea BUT I just want to show you what tulle can look like when it's used in an unexpected way. Danielle Frankel does just this - her line is filled with crazy textures and silhouettes. This particular gown reminds me of Hermione's dress at the Yule Ball so it of course has a special place in my heart. This gown is made from soft tulle with handsewn appliques of Chantilly lace with 4 tiered layers which look as if they just melt into each other. The edges are made from horsehair giving it that very cool structure. I could picture this in a beautiful cottage garden wedding or perhaps even a boho style wedding.

RRP: $15,672.00AUD

Fantasy - Milla Nova

Now for my winter wedding Queens or anyone looking to have long sleeves on their wedding dress. This gown from Milla Nova is glitzy meets coverage meets STUNNING! I know this is all about the tulle but goodness me that bodice! (On a side note - tulle is GREAT for adding beading, appliques and lace!) Featuring beading, sequins and some dainty 3D flowers with a gorgeous tulle skirt and train gives this gown the perfect combination of all the elements you could want! Paired with a sexy plunge neckline and back - this gown definitely has something for everyone!

RRP: $2,799AUD

Judy - Luce Sposa

Now you didn't think I was going to get through this blog without bringing up a big old froo froo dress did you?! This is more of what I think about when I think of a tulle wedding dress - but this is ELEVATED! I love every element of this dress from the tiered tulle skirt, the flirty slit, the deep V, the pearls!! Yes the skirt is big but it's just so fun and textured. For being such a bold look there is definitely a softness to it especially in the gathered tulle on the bodice. Elegance meets party in this one and would be amazing for any type of wedding or even a really fun reception dress!

RRP: $2,800AUD (According to 'Fashionably Yours')

A whole tulle gown not for you? Maybe we can add just a little bit of tulle? Please? Consider some tulle accessories to make a statement!:

- Overskirts/Trains (Odette - KWH)

- Wings (Audrey Tulle Wings - Dove Grey)

- Cape (Sienna - A.B. Ellie)

- Sleeves (Graham - Maggie Sottero)

If I still haven't convinced you, I would HIGHLY recommend just trying one on and seeing how you feel for yourself when it is time to dress shop. You may just fall to-tulle-y in love (see what I did there?)
